WHAT WE HEAR

QuickBooks Keeps Winning. You Keep Paying.

If you run on QuickBooks, some of this will land close to home. None of it is your fault. It is what happens when the company that keeps your books also sells you the software.

Your bill went up twice in a single year, and nothing about the service got better.

Owners keep flagging entries the built in AI moved on its own, found too late or not at all.

Every time you call, it is a new bookkeeper who has never seen your books before.

You pay for the software, and still do the real work yourself at night.

A number should have a person behind it. That is the part QuickBooks quietly stopped selling. It is the part we do.

THE AUGUST 1 INCREASE

What the Increase Actually Costs

Essentials

$75 → $85

per month

$1,020 a year

Plus

$115 → $140

per month

$1,680 a year

Advanced

$275 → $340

per month

$4,080 a year

On August 1, 2026, Intuit raises QuickBooks Online prices again. The increase lands on the software, not on the bookkeeping. Your subscription climbs, and the help you were already paying for does not grow with it.

Priced by the month, it reads as small. Held for five years at the new rate, Plus comes to $8,400 and Advanced to $20,400, before whatever the next increase adds. Intuit has raised prices repeatedly since 2021.

If you also pay Intuit for the bookkeeping, that money does not buy you one person. Customers report being handed a different bookkeeper most months, with nobody carrying forward what happened last time. The bill compounds. The relationship restarts.

Here is something worth doing whether or not you ever call us. Pull up your last Intuit invoice and separate the two line items: what you pay for the software, and what you pay for someone to do the work. Most owners paying for both have never seen those numbers apart. That one line tells you what you are actually buying.

THE PRACTICE

The Accountant on Your Books

By the time most owners call me, they are tired of wondering whether the books are right. I understand that feeling well. I have spent more than 30 years inside small business books: Bookkeeping, payroll, reconciliations, audit support, and the cleanups nobody wants to face. I am a QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisor. I founded Fenton Bookkeeping, and I own the accounting on every account we take on.

You are not handed to a call center or a rotating pool of strangers. Fenton Bookkeeping is a small, accountable practice. The same people stay on your books, they work to the standard I set, and nothing in your books changes without someone who understands why it is there.

Where the Trouble Usually Starts

Most books we open are in one of three states: behind, current but not worth trusting, or holding fine until someone actually checks the numbers.

QuickBooks cleanup and catch-up bookkeeping

Cleanup

You already know it is behind. We face it so you do not have to.

Payroll

People have to be paid right, on time, every time. That part should not keep you up.

CLEANUP

Bring the Books Back to the Truth

You did not let the books fall behind on purpose. It happened the way it always does, one busy stretch at a time. A transaction miscoded here, an invoice marked paid there, and if the built in AI moved something, you may never have caught it. Eventually you stopped opening the reports, because you were not sure you could trust what they said. No one is judging the file. It is only where we start.

We review how the books have actually been used, correct the coding and the balances, reconcile every account against the statements, and fix the pattern behind the drift.

Best fit: Books that fall behind during a busy stretch, an account inherited from a previous bookkeeper, or reports that stopped matching the bank.

Start With a Cleanup Review

MONTHLY BOOKKEEPING

Kept Right, Every Month

Clean books do not stay that way on their own. Give it a few busy weeks and the same drift starts again. The categorization slips, the reconciliations pile up, and the next surprise sits waiting for your tax preparer to open the books. You should not have to babysit them.

We work inside your existing QuickBooks file and hold the same standard month over month. Transactions categorized, accounts reconciled, reports current, and anything that needs your input flagged in a short list instead of a pile. No backlog, no year end scramble, no automation changing entries behind your back.

Best fit: Owners tired of doing the books at night, who want numbers ready for a decision, a lender, or a filing at any moment.

PAYROLL

Run on Books That Are Already Right

Payroll is the one thing you cannot be late on. People are counting on it, and every run leaves a trail that has to match the books behind it. When payroll and bookkeeping live in different hands, they drift apart, and you find the gap at quarter end, when it is hardest to fix and easiest to worry about.

We run payroll through QuickBooks on top of records that are already current, so wages, taxes, and liabilities line up with the rest of your books instead of fighting them. You approve the run and move on, and the quarterly filings reconcile without a cleanup.

Best fit: Owners running QuickBooks Payroll who want it handled by the same person keeping the books, not split across services that never quite match.

Hand Off Payroll

BEFORE YOU DECIDE

What You Are Right to Ask

You Are Already Paying for This Twice

Once for the software, and once in the hours you spend running it. The subscription buys the tools. It has never bought you a person to do the work, catch the errors, and answer for the numbers. That cost has always been yours, paid in evenings. We take it on, and you keep the QuickBooks you already have.

QuickBooks Live is Intuit, the same company raising your price and running the AI owners keep flagging. Its bookkeepers rotate, so no one stays on your books for long. Fenton Bookkeeping has no stake in the software you run on. The same people keep your books, and when a number looks wrong, they are the ones who answer for it.

What Does This Cost

There is no price on this page on purpose. What the work costs depends on how far behind the books are and how much moves through them each month, and quoting before anyone has opened your file would be a guess dressed up as an answer. Start by having the books reviewed instead, which costs nothing. You get a straight read on what needs fixing first and what it takes to keep the books right, and you can take that answer anywhere, including nowhere.

Someone Has to Answer for Your Numbers

A platform can raise money, change hands, or close between one tax season and the next. A person cannot hide behind a login screen. You work with a named founder and a small practice, so you always know exactly who has your books, and exactly who to reach when it counts.

HOW IT WORKS

Simple From the First Step

01

A Few Questions

Answer a few short questions so Miriam can see where your books stand before you talk.

02

The Review

She reviews your QuickBooks personally, at no charge and with no commitment to continue.

03

Know What to Fix First

You get a clear picture of what needs cleanup and what it takes to keep the books right.

What the Review Actually Looks At

How transactions have been categorized, against how the business actually runs.

Whether every account reconciles to the statements, month by month.

Invoices and payments marked in ways the bank does not confirm.

Anything an automated change moved without a person confirming it.

See What Your Books Actually Need
